SPEAKER BIO

Donald R. Murphy
DC, DACAN

Dr. Murphy is internationally recognized as one of the premier experts in the management of cervical spine syndromes. He has postgraduate training in neurology, rehabilitation, and sports medicine, and holds a Diplomate from the American Chiropractic Academy of Neurology.  He is the Clinical Director of the Rhode Island Spine Center, Providence, RI, as well as Clinical Assistant Professor at the Medical School of Brown University.  He is also Adjunct Associate Professor at New York Chiropractic College, and has been appointed to the Postgraduate Faculty of the Anglo-European Chiropractic College, Southern California University of Health Sciences, University of Bridgeport College of Chiropractic, and New York Chiropractic College.  Dr. Murphy has published dozens of articles in numerous peer-reviewed scientific journals and trade publications.  He is the author and editor of a book entitled Conservative Management of Cervical Spine Syndromes, published by McGraw-Hill.  He also has contributed to several book chapters. Dr. Murphy is known for his cutting edge, information packed, practical hands-on seminars.

COURSE DESCRIPTION

In this two day practical course Dr. Murphy will review the reflex and stabilization mechanisms of the cervical spine, including intersegmental stabilization mechanisms, response to trauma, and the role of foot function in cervical spine stability. Recent advances in the diagnosis and management of headaches, radicular, and pseudo-radicular syndromes will be discussed, demonstrated and practiced. You will learn how to:

  • Identify the pain generator (segmental, centralization, neurodynamic, & myofascial signs)
  • Recognize and manage instability, oculomotor dysfunction, central sensitization, fear, catastrophizing & passive coping.
  • Formulate a management strategy for manipulation, end range loading, neurodynamics, myofascial therapy, rehabilitation, stabilization and strength training, retraining eye-head-neck coordination.

• Please wear comfortable clothing as there are practical components to the course

If received less than 30 days in advance credit towards a future seminar/ or course (minus $50 cancellation fee) is received.
