SPEAKER BIO

Lorimer Moseley
PhD, BAppSc(Phty)(Hons), NHMRC

Lorimer is a clinical and research physiotherapist at Oxford University, UK, where he undertakes clinical and basic science research in the Pain Imaging Neuroscience Group and Department of Physiology, Anatomy & Genetics. Lorimer has written two books and over 50 publications in highly regarded international journals (e.g PAIN, European Journal of Pain, Neurology, Brain, Arthritis Care & Research, Rheumatology, Behavioural Neuroscience).  He has given numerous keynote presentations at major multidisciplinary meetings and one of his favourite things is getting the science to the clinician and the patient in a way that is sensible, memorable and fun.

COURSE DESCRIPTION

This seminar provides an overview of current thought in pain sciences, with an emphasis on key paradigms and the biological principles and data on which they are based. This seminar provides the clinician with the basic tools to integrate these paradigms with clinical practice. The seminar draws on knowledge from the basic and clinical sciences and evidence from clinical trials to provide a clear idea of when and where explaining pain can improve the efficacy of treatment. Regardless of your clinical paradigms, really under-standing pain is important and affects your outcomes.
