Concepts in Rehabilitation of the Shoulder in Clinical
Practice
Two-day hands on course
Physiotherapists, Physicians, Chiropractors, Massage
Therapists, Athletic Trainers, Kinesiologists.
After completing this seminar series you will be able
to accurately diagnose and rehabilitate shoulder impingements,
shoulder instability vs. laxity, labral lesions, AC
joint lesions, rotator cuff lesions, and many other
conditions that affect the shoulder. In addition, Dr.
Buchberger will review non-operative and post-operative
rotator cuff strengthening concepts that are extremely
important for any doctor or therapist who treats patients
with shoulder problems.

Dr. Dale Buchberger has lectured internationally on
sports related and repetitive strain injuries. He is
Director of Physical Therapy for Victory Sports Medicine
and Orthopedics and is on the post-doctoral faculty
for 4 Universities. He has published articles in several
peer reviewed journals including: JMPT, JSCR, MSSE and
AJMS. He is a credentialed provider and instructor of
Active Release Techniques® and currently serves
as the team chiropractor for the Single A and Triple-A
affiliate of the Toronto Blue Jays, and is Chiropractic
Consultant to the Syracuse University Athletic Department.
Dr. Buchberger is a Diplomate and former President of
the American Chiropractic Board of Sports Physicians,
and is a former associate professor at New York Chiropractic
College. He was the Chiropractic Consultant to the Canadian
Aerial Ski Team for the 2001-2002 Olympic medal-winning
season. Dr. Buchberger maintains a private practice
which is heavily focused on soft tissue treatments and
rehabilitation.
Course Description:
The most common conditions of the shoulder presenting
to the outpatient office setting will be discussed via
power point lecture and live demonstration. The intricacies
of the shoulder examination will be discussed and demonstrated.
There is a minimum of hands on practice in this module.
This module provides the foundation for module 2.

Course Description:
The systematic shoulder examination according to the
most current literature will be discussed, demonstrated
and then practiced in breakout sessions. Attendees should
come dressed to be examined and to work in small groups.
Following completion of the examination portion of the
workshop an introduction to shoulder rehabilitation
will begin. Case studies will be presented throughout
the weekend.

Course Description:
Module three builds on the introduction provided in
module two. The foundations of shoulder rehabilitation
will be discussed, demonstrated and practiced in breakout
sessions. After the rehabilitation portion is complete
there will be a summary of the three modules. The course
closes with a written multiple-choice examination. After
completion of the three modules and satisfactory completion
of the written examination the attendees will receive
and certificate of completion of 36 hours of course
work in the evaluation and management of shoulder disorders.
